What to buy a field engineer for Christmas

W

‘Tis the season for giving, and it occurred to me that our field engineers will probably miss Secret Santa because they spend most of their time on the road installing and maintaining mission-critical equipment and fixing technical issues.

Not only that, although some of our field engineers will be putting their feet up at the end of the week, others will be on call or working over Christmas.

Missing out on Secret Santa is a shame because when our field engineers visit, they always arrive with a can-do attitude and positive mindset, which is infectious.

Beyond that, our field engineers bring a soothing presence to any situation. Better still, they’re great listeners and resourceful.

Because our field engineers are central to our business, we don’t want them to miss out on the festive fun.

So we asked them what they would like to receive in their Christmas stockings.

If you want to thank a hard-working field engineer in your life, but don’t have time to rush out and buy presents, then we do hope you find this Christmas list helpful.

Tools of the trade

No field engineer is complete without a toolkit. To handle complex jobs, here are the tools they favour:

Height adjustable hop-up

To enable our field engineers to access difficult-to-reach areas. They are quicker and more portable than ladders or steps.

Laser distance measurer

Fast, accurate and user-friendly (no need to fight with tape!). Also, simple to store values and measurements; what’s not to love?

A set of Snap-On screwdrivers

Described as the field engineer’s equivalent of a Ralph Lauren Shirt or a Rolex watch, Span-On screwdrivers allow for maximum control, turning power and grip.

Wera Compact Screwdriver Kit

So easy and light to transport. Especially if the job requires you to run up and down many flights of stairs!

 High-dexterity thermal gloves

Ideal for handling small mechanical and electrical components, these durable gloves also reduce our field engineers’ risk of injury from burns and chemicals.

Comfortable composite toe work boots

They’re lighter and more comfortable than steel toe caps. What’s more, they’re sturdy with good grip and provide all-year-round safety and protection.

Apple air pods

Or any noise-cancelling ear pods with a blue tooth connection. They allow our field engineers to take hands-free calls. Genius!

A screw extractor set

Never have to waste time with a broken, stripped or rusted screw or bolt again! A screw extractor set provides a quick and easy solution.

In-car entertainment

Because Field engineers spend a lot of their time travelling between jobs…

An Audible Subscription

Unlimited access to thousands of audiobooks and podcasts. Guaranteed to take your mind off terrible traffic and the torrent of bad news on the radio.

Spotify subscription

Ah, the ability to listen to mood-lifting cheesy tunes! Allows our field engineers to listen to the music they want to hear, when they want to hear it.

A tumbler for hot and cold beverages

Because when our field engineers arrive on site, they go straight to work and don’t take time out for a break.

Dashcam

Sad but true, because our field engineers spend so much time on the road, sometimes they need evidence of who is at fault when accidents occur. Moreover, they can record and report reckless and irresponsible drivers.

It’s been cold out there…

A smart, warm coat

Our field engineers are conscious that they represent Veritek’s customers’ brands when they arrive onsite. So they always want to look smart.

Outside of work

A cinema subscription

Our digital cinema engineers see snippets of many films while on the job. When they get free time, they enjoy sitting on the other side of the projector and immersing themselves in the big screen experience.

PS5

The perfect way to relax at the end of a day!

And there we have it, 15 super gifts to pop under your field engineer’s Christmas tree.

Feel free to share this post with others who have the pleasure of working with field engineers.
