Boots Instant Photo Kiosks get an upgrade with Veritek

Problem

Leading UK health and beauty retailer Boots needed to remove old technology and install 3,000 replacement photographic kiosks across 900 sites This was the company’s biggest upgrade of photographic equipment for over 15 years, and the main upgrade schedule had a 12 week completion deadline.

Solution

With just four weeks lead time and a huge geographic region to cover, the Veritek team quickly assembled a dedicated team of specialist multilingual engineers, while its Logistics team focused on structuring the necessary supply chain and transport requirements to ensure a smooth rollout with no complications or delays.

To minimise in-store disruption all work was completed outside of trading hours eliminating revenue loss and protecting the brand’s in-store customer experience.

This was a complex multi-layered project which involved numerous different teams collaborating across multiple regions and time-zones. Effective communication was as important to the smooth running of the project as the technical implementation.

Results

By working outside of operating hours, the Veritek teams were able to progress the project uninterrupted, which greatly benefited delivery schedules and ensured there was no disruption to Boots’ consumer services. Veritek’s robust pre-project planning and preparation ensured that there were no unexpected delays, complications or breaks to the supply chain. The core project, removing and installing print and computer equipment across 350 larger Mini Lab stores was completed within the 12 weeks timetable and within four months of the project approval date. All equipment was successfully installed, removed and/or upgraded, fully meeting and exceeding Boot’s expectations.
