Electro Mechanical Field Service Engineer

Veritek is seeking to recruit an Electro-Mechanical Field Service Engineer (with initially a strong bias and knowledge towards Digital Cinema ) with the potential of additionally working on Robotics equipment and other disciplines as and when required and trained. The role will be home based in the Guildford area, primarily to cover the South East with travel into central London and other city centres as required. National travel and occasional European travel could be required from time to time.

The role will extend beyond Digital Cinema work and we are looking for someone with the versatility and capability to work across multiple disciplines and sectors. The successful candidate will be required to work early mornings and evenings to meet customer demands, as well as being part of a regular on-call rota for weekend and out of hours coverage. The role holder will also be required to work up to one in three Saturdays as part of a shift rota to cover specific customer contract hours. Candidates must be flexible as Service requests can often be made at short notice due to customer SLA entitlements. The work involves on-site break fix and preventative maintenance as well as other activities such as upgrades, installations and other project work (which may require overnight stays and some international travel). You will have excellent customer facing skills as well as technical ability. The ability to diagnose and resolve complex faults is vital and you will be expected to keep the customer informed throughout this process. Maximising equipment availability and keeping our customers operational is of utmost importance and you will be expected to demonstrate a proactive approach ensuring this is the case. The systems you will work on are highly complex and require quick learning and understanding; you will also require the ability to rapidly identify the nature of complex issues and to provide optimal solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out the installation, servicing, moves & changes, upgrade, modification, and repair requirements of the company customer base as requested.
  • To always apply a professional, reactive, and proactive service to our customers.
  • Problem-solve in a responsible and methodical manner whilst carrying out effective customer liaison skills to ensure total customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure effective communications are maintained with Area Manager’s / Team Leaders and other Veritek staff as required.
  • To be flexible to work within other regions of the UK within given notice as required.
  • To attend and pass any necessary product or skills training programmes.
  • To attend sites within city locations which may involve using public transport from time to time.
  • To ensure call closure procedures are always followed.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed correctly and returned within correct timescales.
  • Effectively maintain vehicle stock inventory.
  • To manage customer returns, disposal of returned capital equipment and parts in a compliant timely manner to ISO and WEEE procedures
  • Be responsible for ensuring safe working practices under the Health & Safety Acts.
  • To always demonstrate appropriate driver behaviours.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety regulations and practices. Realise the importance of reducing risks for themselves and others. Recognising when to report, escalate or even stop work where necessary.
  • To always act in the best interest of the business and our customers / partners.

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for the successful candidates are:

  • Previous engineering or technical support experience in the digital cinema sector, would be ideal but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of Sony cinema equipment would be ideal, any knowledge of Barco, NEC and/or Christie would also be beneficial, although training will be required for the right candidate
  • Knowledge and experience with working on theatre management content systems would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Electrical/electronic engineering/practical experience, including the ability to read circuit diagrams and an understanding of 3-phase electrics. Mechanical engineering/practical experience.
  • Good IT knowledge and skills, PC and software literate. Knowledge of network fault-finding and corrective measures.
  • Physically fit, some lifting of equipment and parts will be required. Cinemas by their nature have a lot of stairs to negotiate. Some working at heights and working from a scaffold tower may be required.
  • Any cinema audio knowledge or experience would also be an advantage.
