Digital Press Field Service Engineer

Veritek are seeking to recruit an experienced Digital Press Field Service Engineer.

This role will be UK Field based predominately based working from a home location within 20 miles of Exeter, to cover a customer base across the Southwest area of the UK.  National and European travel could be required from time to time, including attendance in Barcelona for classroom training on a range of digital press equipment.

The role will involve follow-up on remote diagnosis, resolving the problem as quickly as possible in order to enable the customer to remain operational at all times. You will be expected to install, configure, maintain and repair printing press systems as well as demonstrate a proactive approach and contribute to maintenance related activities. The systems you will work on are highly complex and require quick learning and understanding; as well as the ability to rapidly identify the nature of complex issues and to provide optimal solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on remote diagnosis, resolving the problems as quickly as possible to enable the customer to maximise the use of the digital press.
  • To install, configure, maintain, and repair printing press systems as well as demonstrate a proactive approach and contribute to maintenance related activities.
  • To always apply a professional, reactive, and proactive service to our customers.
  • Working on highly complex systems you will require quick learning and understanding with the ability to rapidly identify the nature of complex issues and to provide optimal solutions
  • Ensure effective communications are maintained with Area Manager’s, Team Leaders and other Veritek staff as required.
  • To be flexible to work within other regions of the UK as and when required.
  • To attend and pass any necessary product or skills training programmes.
  • To ensure call closure procedures are always followed.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed correctly and returned within correct timescales.
  • Be responsible for ensuring safe working practices under the Health & Safety Acts.
  • To always demonstrate appropriate driver behaviours.

Knowledge, skills and experience for the successful candidate are:

  • A professional with an intermediate or higher vocational technical background covering both mechanics and electronics with at least three years of experience in a similar field engineer position and environment.
  • Passionate about engineering and with an understanding of customer focus.
  • Dedication, teamwork, and a proactive attitude.
  • The ability to interact at all levels of the organisation whether internally or externally.
  • A problem solver who appreciates quick action and measurable results.
  • Enjoys a diverse working environment.
  • Previous field experience with support of high end or complex electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills down to electronics component level
  • Detailed knowledge of electronic/electrical components including 3 phase mains power.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams
  • Ability to understand colour theory
  • Willingness to travel and a flexible approach
  • Valid driving licence
  • Strong communication skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a current up to date passport or be able to apply for one immediately. May sometimes be required to work early starts and/or late finishes. Core 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
